The general press, newspapers and magazines

The Bpi offers a large collection of French and foreign daily newspapers. All the French nation-wide dailies are available for readers on the day of publication, before midday. Over sixty regional newspapers and around twenty foreign dailies are also freely available.  They are kept for one to three months, depending on demand.

News magazines are also available for consultation: the French weeklies and monthlies and a selection of foreign magazines are kept at least three months and up to two years.

The Library also makes available for consultation a selection of French and foreign newspapers, magazines and news websites on the multimedia terminals in the Press area. They can be accessed via the on line edition (public version) or the Europresse and Press Display databases. Le Monde, Libération, the New York Times, an Nahar, Ettela’at, Sing Tao, Mediapart… and many others are also available.

The Bpi also makes available the latest versions of daily newspapers and magazines, as soon as they are displayed in kiosks.

The specialised press

A large selection of specialised periodicals is also available for amateurs as well as professionals. They deal with a great variety of subjects for the general public or a very specific audience. In the area of health, Santé Magazine for example, is right next to La revue neurologique.

The specialised press is distributed throughout the thematic areas, just like the books, and is identified by figures from 0 to 9. All areas of knowledge are represented in our subscriptions (human sciences, social sciences, science and technology, art and literature). Their bookshelf number always ends with a (0).

The microfilms

The archives of the general and specialised press are available on various supports, including microfilm with 20 newspapers and live magazines such as Le Figaro since 1854, l’Humanité since 1904, LSA and Points de Ventes… Titles that are out of print have been kept since the first issue: Le Mercure galant, l’Illustration, L’Action Française

They can be consulted on special reading devices. In addition to the 8 terminals in the Press area, Levels 2 and 3 of the Library are equipped with several reading devices. More details can be obtained at the information desk of the area concerned: the librarians are there to help visitors.
