In the "Musiques et documents parlés" ('Music and Spoken Documents') Area, which is located on Level 3 of the Library, you will find a collection of CDs, books, periodicals, scores... all continuously updated. All kinds of music are represented, from music of the world to contemporary music, together with French songs and classical music. It is also possible to watch music documentaries and recordings of concerts. Lastly, if you are looking for some information about music, various resources are available in different formats, from books and periodicals to CD-ROMs and Internet sites.

Choose your records, and go to the Information desk to reserve a station:

- 53 listening-stations (36 "juke-box" stations, 17 "record-player" stations) are at your disposal.

If you prefer to watch a film or concert, look for it in one of the databases:

- 10 multimedia work-stations provide access to sites with on-line musical resources, such as La Discothèque Naxos, Classical Music Library, or the Cité de la musique en ligne, as well as to a selection of Internet sites devoted to documentaries, concerts, and other aspects of music.

You can even play the piano at the Bpi. In the Music and Spoken Documents area, there are two digital pianos that you can play, after reservation.

You can have the use of a piano, free of charge, for a session of 75 minutes, after reserving a place at the Information desk.

Each piano is equipped with two sets of headphones so that two people can play it at once. Using a USB connection, you can also save your work onto a storage appliance.

The keyboards of these pianos, very similar to those of a conventional piano, enable you to explore very freely the Bpi's collection of scores, to practise your scales, to improvise or even to play your own compositions...
