Professions and Competitive Examinations
The Bpi makes available information, guidance and coaching materials.
Magazines and books
- Consult dictionaries and encyclopaedias, guides and leaflets about professions, to find out about the qualifications that are required, as well as stories of work experience and a useful list of addresses.
- Take a look at the magazines (in French): "Parcours", "Zoom sur les métiers" and "Voie pro", at the Onisep Kiosk.
- Use the manuals to preparer the competitive examinations for the three branches of the Civil Service: the State, local government and hospital branch, the teaching branch, and the paramedical and social branch, or the examinations of the "grandes écoles": they include a methodology, the programmes and corrected exam subjects. You can also work on each test: law, economics, general culture, essay, summary, mathematics, history, orals..., and test yourself using various multiple choice questionnaires and exercises. Some tests provide a form of self-evaluation.
- New resources:
Websites and software
- From your home or using the Library's computers, you can access a selection of websites on careers and competitive examinations that give the provisional timetable, and information about the exams and the study programmes.
- At the Bpi, on the multimedia work-stations and in the Self-Learning area, you can consult the CD-ROMs on professions and other materials to help you revise and prepare the competitive examinations for Categories A, B and C, or a specialised competitive examination.
