Bpi and You

One film genre, which is neglected by the media and film theatres despite its recent growth in popularity, has been represented in the collection since its beginning: animated movies and their different techniques. It is well worth discovering the selection of nearly 300 titles, shorts and feature films, from historic chef d’uvres (Le Roman de Renard, by Ladislas Starewicz) to worldwide successes (Les Triplettes de Belleville, Le Tombeau des lucioles), as well as rarer works, notably the Russian and Polish shorts from the Soviet era with their inexorable vision of society; the works of Jean-François Laguionie with their disenchanted reflection on the human condition; Yuri Norstein and Franceska Yarbousova's films with their exceptional plastic beauty, or the caricatures of Bill Plympton, a vitriolic portraitist of the violent contradictions that buffet America. This collection opens up to us a world of pure poetry, where puppets, plasticine or 3D characters and various objects, are found alongside classic cartoons. The particularity of this selection is that it is aimed at both adult and teenage viewers.
