Bpi and You

This collection, reflecting the interests and needs of the Library's public, offers an interesting alternative to the printed collections that it complements, elaborates or illustrates, depending on the subject.
It is encyclopaedic, and rather focused on current productions, with a certain predominance of films about art, due to the close collaboration with the Pompidou Centre, but it also contains films devoted to social issues, a favourite theme for documentary film-makers. A significant part is composed of so-called "creative" documentaries, which present the opinion and vision of the author, observe a respect for the persons being filmed, and require a sufficiently long time to make and edit. Neither the authors, who have made the documentary the noble art that it is, nor the much publicised young guard, have forgotten the films of Chris Marker, Nicolas Philibert, Johan van der Keuken, Jean Rouch, Frederick Wiseman, Claire Simon, Agnès Varda, Georges Rouquier, Joris Ivens and many others, and embryonic or confirmed film-lovers are also delighted to discover them.
