Trying to cover all spheres of creativity, information and knowledge, using all forms of expression, is the first characteristic of what the Bpi offers to its users. In each field, the aim is to cover a maximum number of subjects: for example, modern literature, the popularisation of scientific topics, legal documentation, music from all over the world, genealogy, cooking, photography ...

Multicultural and multilingual resources

The collections aim to be multicultural and to cover all parts of the world, with books and reference materials about all countries, especially concerning their history, geography, politics, economy and culture.

While most of the publications (76%) are in French, foreign works are available on topics on which little is published in France. Several dozen languages are represented in the press section, foreign literature includes a very large range of literature in its original language, and the "Self-Learning" section proposes ways to learn more than 200 languages and dialects.
