Priority has been given to two areas in the development of the Collections: practical and social information and "lifelong learning". Numerous works for beginners or for refreshing one's knowledge are to be found among the general documentation. School or university textbooks are purchased on a selective basis to meet the priority needs of adult users who are undergoing training or reconversion.

Daily Life sector
In addition to the practical documentation here, there are specialised collections that will help you find information relating to day-to-day life. For example, the legal collection helps to answer questions about such matters as divorce, adoption, redundancy, difficulties with neighbours...
The Bpi also seeks to facilitate access to the texts of laws and regulations, as well as to the publications of various public institutions: the Journal officiel (official bulletin of the French State) is available in different forms according to the period in question, and a range of official web-sites are collected under a single heading in the documentation portal.
The general documentation about a country or a geographical region is available on Level 2, at the beginning of the Social Sciences sector.

The collections here enable an adult public to acquire basic knowledge (maths, French language, Highway Code...) or know-how (office work or computer skills). There is a particularly large range of materials for learning languages.

You are looking for a flat? Or for some addresses to practise a sport? You are wondering about your pension rights? Or how to improve your diet, or manage your budget? Or where to find someone to look after your child?
The Daily Life sector brings together the tools that will help you to find answers to these questions and many more.
