Discover the Bpi
The Bpi's Collections are available in different formats: as printed documents, microfiches and microfilms, electronic documents, sound recordings and films. The electronic materials can be consulted on 164 multimedia stations in different parts of the Library.

While moving from printed materials to electronic resources is one of the Library's aims, this changeover is not systematic. Depending on its content and the use that is made of it, a document may be kept in its "paper" form, even if it exists in an electronic version; this is the case for newspapers, and dictionaries...
Priority is given to electronic formats for all documents that do not need to be read in full and line-by-line: these include databases and portals that contain different kinds of information (bibliographies, press and magazines, literary texts, images, market surveys, legal documents...)
In the Self-Learning area, the documents in analogical format are steadily being replaced by tutorials on CDs or DVDs, or on-line. On-line services are especially sought after in order to be as up-to-date as possible and because of their interactive features.
In addition to the electronic materials that the Bpi has acquired, it provides access to a selection of Internet sites, in particular in the following fields:
Thus, 2,000 sites are listed and described in the document portal (that can be accessed by the "looking for a document" tool). News sites, which can be consulted for a limited length of time, are also listed in the "A l'affiche" section.
