What do Amos Oz, Da Cruz, Jean-Louis Comolli, and Riad Sattouf, have in common? They all, in their own ways, write about, film and draw today's world, but however different they may be, you can meet them at the Bpi.

selection of programme covers

The "Cinéma du Réel" festival, the slam jousts, the encounters with cartoonists or the theatre in the dark are other examples of events organised by the Library.

The development of all forms of cultural activity is one of the missions of the Bpi. To fulfil this mission as best it can, the Library organises spoken events, film shows, workshops and exhibitions.

The Cultural Action Charter presents the mains areas of the Library's cultural activity and the principles underlying them.

Key themes

In the same spirit of openness, the discussions and encounters, the exhibitions, the projections complete what the Bpi offers in its books, magazines, data-banks, films and music. They cover such key themes as:

  • The present, memory and society
  • Literary and artistic creation (cinema, theatre, poetry…)
  • The book, publishing and graphic creation in today's world
