International encounters with exiled writers

Le monde est ma patrie ("The World is My Home Country").
Danilo Kiš, Stateless person

At the beginning of December each year writers from all over the world come to describe, in the "Petite Salle" of the Pompidou Centre, the relationship between their writing and their exile.
These encounters, very rich in both an artistic and human sense, are the subject of an annual publication.

The 8th book, published in November 2009, records the experiences of African writers.

Je sais quand Dieu vient se promener dans mon jardin ("I know when God comes to walk in my garden"), read by Gary Victor.

Islanders

At the 9th session of the International Encounters with Exiled Writers, in November 2009, a quite special place in the world was explored: the island.

The island as literary fantasy...
Ex-ile as ideal condition for a writer...

27-29 November 2009.

You can find recordings of these encounters (in French) in the data-bank of sound archives.
