This Collection brings together a number of sociological studies about reading and the cultural practices that are associated with it, such as the use of libraries, or cultural uses of information and communication technologies.
The works presented here are the most recent. You can consult the full range of books in this Collection (all in French) in the catalogue of the Publications of the Bpi and Pompidou Centre, which also includes the contents-pages of the books, some sample pages... as well as some of the books that are out of stock in their paper version but can be downloaded free of charge.

By Virginie Repaire and Cécile Touitou
With Françoise Bettahar and Bernard Sallet
Can be downloaded, free of charge
In the Internet era, is there still a place for the municipal library in the adolescent universe? Can it be of any interest for them, who are often considered to be little inclined to read, while being adept in the use of search engines, and expert at downloading (legally or illegally) music and films? Why do some young people not (or no longer) frequent libraries, and what would attract them to use them? A range of questions to which this new survey, describing the relationships that adolescents have with reading and the library world, seeks to answer.

By Jean-Marc Leveratto and Mary Leontsini
An enquiry into the way Internet is used in the field of literature. Where Internet is presented at the same time as a documentary and commercial resource at the service of off-line literary relaxation, as a place offering a flourishing literary sociability on-line, but also as a powerful observation tool for the sociologist.

Attractivité, fréquentation et devenir
By Bruno Maresca
A survey of existing public reading services, conducted by CREDOC in Autumn 2005, for the "Direction du livre et de la lecture".

Littérature numérique et Internet
By Serge Bouchardon, Evelyne Broudoux, Oriane Deseilligny and Franck Ghitalla
"A publication full of information about the Internet phenomenon: distribution lists, literary sites, discussion forums, in fact everything that has developed in recent years around literature (...)" Xavier Malbreil.

Entre savoirs, croyances et fictions
By Pierre Lagrange and Claudie Voisenat
This study, through a sociology of the paranormal sciences on the one hand and a strictly ethnographic approach on the other hand, analyses the success of esoteric literature, which raises questions about the notion of critical distance.

Enquête sur les lecteurs de récits policiers
By Annie Collovald and Erik Neveu
The detective story is a form for which the literary world still has little respect even if, since the 1980s, its image has improved. This study examines readers' attitudes to the changes in what is now published in this field.

Manipuler, (s')approprier, interpréter le Web
By Dominique Boullier, Franck Ghitalla, Pergia Gkouskou-Giannakou, Laurence Le Douarin and Aurélie Neau
Living the Web is in itself an ultra-modern experience which requires a major upheaval in our points of reference. Reader, do you dare to enter into the "beyond reading" universe?

Trois études sur les sociabilités juvéniles
By Martine Burgos, Christophe Evans, Nassira Hedjerassi, Patrick Perez, Fabienne Soldini and Philippe Vitale
This book contains the results of a study about young people and libraries, an article about usage conflicts in libraries and a summary of a survey about children as library users, conducted in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
You can find all the titles of the Collection in the on-line Bpi catalogue.
