Practical Information

The "Mission Lecture Handicap" (Reading & Disability Mission) organises projections of films that are interpreted simultaneously in French sign language in the framework of the Ecran des enfants and Annecy in Paris.
With the "Cinéma du réel" and the Bpi's Audiovisual Department, a collection of films equipped with audio-description has been created.
The first projection was organised on 28 March in the framework of the "Cinéma du réel". The film shown was "Moulinex, la mécanique du pire".
A visit to the Library can be arranged for a group of disabled persons, or for professionals working with disabled persons. The visits start at 10:00am.

Thanks to ArteVoD, available in the Library, it is possible for you to watch films with audio-description. Try it out on one of the work-stations equipped for Video on Demand (VoD) in the Films area, on Level 3.
Audio-description is a system which makes it possible to make films, shows or exhibitions, accessible for blind persons or for persons with a visual impairment, thanks to a text in voice-off that describes the visual aspects of the film or event. The voice giving the description is placed between the dialogues or other important sound elements in order not to spoil the original work. Headphones can be used to listen to the description, so as not to disturb other people in the audience.
