Find out about training, professions, competitive entrance exams, the job market

To make it easier for you to access information on school and career guidance, employment and training, the Professional Life area on level 3 of the library offers documentation on careers, schools and universities, and competitive examinations.
You’ll also find a wide range of guides to help you find a job (CVs, cover letters, job interviews, etc.) and information on sectors that recruit, and the status of self-employed entrepreneurs.

The Bpi also offers online resources to help you with your career planning (IJ Box, Xerfi, Les Etudes Echos), as well as self-training platforms on career guidance, careers and vocational training (Skilleos, ToutApprendre, Gerip Compétences, OnlineFormapro).

Discover the Self training space

The Self training space on level 3, is dedicated to lifelong independent learning. More than 220 languages and dialects can be learnt in this space, or office software, the highway code… The area offers a wide range of resources (language methods, films, documentaries) to enable you to learn on your own or under the guidance of a librarian. Platforms on guidance, careers and vocational training are also available in this area.

Take your professional future in hand

The Bpi and Cité des métiers have joined forces to make information on employment, training and working life more accessible. As an associated center of the Cité des métiers, the Bpi welcomes job seekers and people undergoing professional retraining, and directs them to useful resources and appropriate structures.

To help you build your professional life, come and take part in the Employment and Professional Life workshops run by professional partners of the Cité des métiers on the following topics: writing a CV or covering letter, preparing for a recruitment interview, setting up an entrepreneurial or associative project, employment support schemes for foreigners, techniques for improving oral fluency, techniques for regaining self-confidence, knowledge of useful documentary resources for job hunting.

Twice a month, the Visemploi association runs an employment center where you can discuss your job search on an individual basis. Volunteers can provide information, advice and guidance according to your needs.

Developing skills in languages, IT and writing

Would you like to improve and enhance your language skills? The Self-Training area offers free conversation workshops to enable you to practice English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese or French as a foreign language (FLE).

Do you need to update your CV or write a cover letter, but are unfamiliar with the computer? Would you like to improve your computer skills? Learn about computers and the web in digital workshops organized and run by two librarians.

To help you feel at ease in writing your administrative, professional or any other personal or public correspondence, without any spelling or French mistakes, the library offers a public writer’s service in partnership with the Mots sur mesure association.
