Guided tours adapted for people with disabilities
Depending on events and its cultural program, the Bpi offers guided tours tailored to all audiences with specific needs. Discover them!

Our tours adapted to everyone
For visitors with visual impairments:
- Descriptive tours: the guide describes elements that are invisible to blind or visually impaired visitors during an exhibition or tour.
For visitors with hearing impairments:
- Lip-reading tours: for people with hearing impairments, with or without hearing aids.
- Tours in French Sign Language (LSF): for deaf people who use sign language. These tours are led by a deaf cultural mediator who is a partner of the Bpi.
For visitors with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders:
- Tours in easy French adapted to people’s needs, with our specialized librarians. These tours take place in the morning for small groups. They can be combined with a tour of the Bpi’s Easy Reading area.
For visitors with motor disabilities or fatigue issues:
- Equipment is available to borrow from the reception desk for a comfortable visit: wheelchairs, walking sticks.
For organized groups: students with disabilities (ULIS, EREA, hospital schools, etc.), medical-social structures (IME, SESSAD, ESAT, etc.), associations representing people with disabilities, etc.
- Tours adapted to individual needs, during hours when the museum is closed to the public: general tours or tours focused on a specific area (Easy to Read, dressing rooms, etc.).

Discovery tours of the Bpi
The Bpi is offering guided tours of its new spaces in the Lumière building! Let a librarian show you around the 2nd and 3rd floors, which house the library’s collections. Find out where everything is: cloakrooms, cafeteria, restrooms, photocopying room, etc.
To find out the dates of upcoming workshops, check the Bpi’s monthly program, the online calendar, or subscribe to the Reading and Disability newsletter (in French only)!
For groups (schools, medical and social organizations, associations, etc.), reservations can be made by emailing lecture-handicap@bpi.fr, specifying the desired time period, the size of the group, the number of accompanying adults, and any specific needs.
Guided tours during an exhibition
Adapted tours are available for all exhibitions at the Bpi. They are led by librarians or offered in collaboration with partner associations, such as Souffleurs de sens.
Tours last approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, and the day and time slot may vary depending on the schedule or requests. Reservations can be made by email at lecture-handicap@bpi.fr or via Acceo (for deaf or hard-of-hearing visitors).
Visitor assistance documents are also available in Braille, large print, or easy-to-read and easy-to-understand (FALC) formats.
As part of the Bpi’s temporary relocation to the Lumière in Paris’s 12th arrondissement, future exhibitions will be held off-site at partner venues starting in 2026. For upcoming dates, check the Bpi’s monthly program or subscribe to the Reading and Disability newsletter!
