Reception and mediation agents
Receptionist positions are temporary, part-time positions lasting nine months, under the responsibility of the Reception Coordination Department.

Reporting to the head of the reception coordination department, the reception and mediation agent is responsible for providing public service at the information desks. They carry out all tasks that contribute to the Bpi’s opening to the public and the maintenance of its activities in compliance with the health and safety rules defined by the public authorities.
Main activities
- Ensuring that visitors comply with the rules in the Bpi’s spaces,
- Welcoming, assisting and informing Bpi visitors,
- Providing bibliographic information, making documents available via indirect access, and allocating computer stations upon reservation,
- Registering visitors for workshops and mediation sessions, accompanying visitors to mediation sessions within the Bpi.
Secondary activities
- Welcoming, informing, and assisting participants in Bpi professional days.
- Welcoming, informing, and assisting participants in cultural events organized by the Bpi.
- Leading educational workshops (foreign languages).
- Organizing the Bpi’s collections and performing various small tasks related to the collections.
- Participating in the relocation and transfer of collections, compatible with other assigned tasks.
- Participating in the sorting of lost and found items.
Employment requirements
- Be highly available: three days a week between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. (except Tuesdays) and every other weekend between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Schedule
Part-time employment of a minimum of 70 hours and a maximum of 81 hours per month.
During the week, working hours are spread over three fixed days (excluding Tuesdays) in variable shifts lasting between three and seven hours during the Bpi’s opening hours (12 noon to 10 p.m.).
Weekly schedules are communicated by email 3 weeks in advance. Additional shifts are offered and assigned on a voluntary basis until the last minute.
Weekends (one in every two or three) and public holidays (if applicable): 4.30 or 5.30-hour public service shifts during the Bpi’s opening hours (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.).
Duration of the contract
The contract term is 9 months, with the possibility of renewal depending on the needs of the department.
Annual leave must be taken before the end of the contract.
Required qualifications
- Entry level: knowledge of computerized document search tools and multimedia resources (studies or a degree, as well as professional experience, even temporary, in the library or documentation sector are appreciated but not required)
- Entry level: knowledge of the Bpi (spaces, collections, classification, and document search tools, etc.) or how other libraries operate
- Ability to understand and rephrase requests from the public
- Understanding of English or another language is appreciated
- Diligence and punctuality
- Interpersonal skills (courtesy, listening skills, diplomacy, etc.)
- Teamwork skills
- Open-mindedness and intellectual curiosity
Remuneration
Remuneration index: €11.65
Extra pay for hours on Sundays and public holidays: €15.44.
