Workshops for a different approach to reading

Do you have difficulty reading due to a disability or learning disorder (dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysphasia, etc.)? These workshops are for you!

Discover our tools and resources

The Bpi offers assistance with digital tools for people who have difficulty reading due to a disability, during dedicated appointments in the booths or elsewhere in the Bpi.

These workshops, grouped into thematic cycles, are an opportunity to learn more about and get to grips with the software, reading aids, and digital resources available in the booths.

Practical details

The sessions are led in small groups by librarians or external contributors who are partners of the Bpi. They last approximately 1 to 3 hours, depending on the topic covered, and take place about once a month, usually on a Wednesday afternoon.

These workshops are particularly aimed at:

  • Anyone who has difficulty accessing reading due to a disability or learning disorder (dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysphasia, etc.);
  • Any accompanying or supporting person, national education or higher education staff, medical-social staff, association representatives, etc.

Our regular topics

“Finding a book suited to my needs,” “Using the talking magnifier: the machine that reads for you,” “Designing a relief drawing,” “Awareness of reading tactile images,” or even “First steps on the Braille printer”… There’s bound to be one that meets your needs!

To find out the dates of upcoming workshops, check the Bpi’s monthly program, the online calendar, or subscribe to the Reading and Disability newsletter (in French only)!

For those who are unable to visit the Bpi, some workshops are available off-site. The Bpi team can visit schools or healthcare facilities to present the principles and conditions of access to adapted books, accessible digital book libraries, and digital reading aids.
