Internships

Library and documentation professionals as part of continuing education, students as part of their school or university studies (books, library-documentation, activity leading, administration, secretarial work, publishing, communication, IT, multimedia, computer science…) can undertake an internship at the Bpi.

Other types of internship also exist that are reserved for professional from foreign libraries.

Please be aware : the Bpi cannot receive people who wish to do an internship as part of a work-study training course.

Internship terms and conditions

  • Internships are paid subject to conditions.
  • Their duration can last from a minimum of one week to a maximum of three months
  • Requests must be made at least two months before the period envisaged. 

Internship programme

  • Personalised welcome
  • Presentation of the spaces and services
  • Assignment to a service which draws up a detailed programme in line with their expectations and the service’s activities
  • Participation in serving visitors with the library information desks
  • An internship report is recommended even if it is not required
  • An assessment, at the end of the internship, with the internship tutor and human resources service
  • An internship certificate is given to the intern. 

How to request to do an internship?

You should send the following elements to the Training service by post or email:
A covering letter with your CV
The request will indicate:

The establishment you come from and which will draw up an internship agreement.
The framework in which you are making this request, your internship project, in line with the Bpi’s activities.
The duration and preferred period (avoiding the school holidays).

Your request will be processed by putting your skills alongside projects of service and their ability to accommodate interns.
